We will then take you to the famous city of Negombo which is located in very close proximity to the airport. Check-in at the hotel and get ready to explore the beauty of this delightful city. You will be visiting the famous fish markets in the area today which are bursting with life. These noisy markets are full of activity and noise. After the city tour, you can return to the hotel and get some rest.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress

Early in the morning, you will visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress which was built by King Kasyapa (477-495 CE). This majestic attraction is replete with water gardens, boulder gardens and terraced gardens. The enchanting frescoes of Sigiriya damsels are also prominent in this world famous attraction. After exploring the rock fortress, you will be travelling around in the little village to admire the charming ways of life of the locals. You will get to enjoy their delicious food and witness a cookery demonstration too. A bullock cart ride and a boat ride will also be arranged for your pleasure today. In the evening a visit to the Minneriya National Park will be arranged. There are many herds of Sri Lankan elephants to see here along with large flocks of birds. The Minneriya Tank which is located within the national park is also a site worth seeing. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Sigiriya To Kandy

After breakfast, you will leave the hotel in Sigiriya to travel to Kandy. On the way, we will stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many beautiful statues and murals of Buddha to see in this ancient temple which is believed to have been built by King Valagambahu in the 1st Century BC. We will also stop at the Spice Gardens in Matale where a variety of spices like cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg are grown. A batik factory tour will be arranged next. After you reach Kandy, check-in at the hotel and spend some time resting. This majestic ancient city was the last capital of ancient Sri Lankan kings. The Temple of the Tooth Relic is one of the most prominent sites in the city. There are many stores selling beautiful gemstones in Kandy, which you can visit during the day.
